Up at about 9 o’clock. At church in the morning and evening. Walked round each time. A soldier in to tea1. Olive, Ada and Betty2 in to supper.
It was common practice in both World Wars (and for some years after WW2) to invite home for a meal any unknown serviceman who turned up at a chapel or church service. ↩
