At work as usual. Busy all day. Charlie off at night and we played and sang and had walk last thing. Saw advert in the Echo for R.F.A¹.

At work as usual. Frank on his holidays. Finished in decent time. Busy all day. Got up late work a bit¹. Had walk at night. Charlie off work and played and sang.

At church as usual. Marmie playing organ. Mr Hammond preaching in the morning, and Mr Roope at night. Mr Roope preached a very good sermon, and Marmie managed all right. Had usual walks.

At work as usual. Finished in decent time. Got papers in the afternoon and had walk at night with Willie Whittaker up to the foot of Penshaw Hill. Mrs Blaikie called to say that Ted†¹ is ill and asking Marmie to play. Mrs Marshall† very ill.

At work as usual. Got up about 6 o’clock and went to the baths. Got on all right. Busy at work all day. Had walk at night.

At work as usual. Busy all day. Finished earlier a bit. Worked at shop books. Played a bit.

At work as usual. Busy all day. Finished late, about 6 o’clock. A girl fell over Hendon Cliffs and there was a lot of bother before they got the ambulance. Had walk at night with Joe, after trying to square cash for shop.

At work again. Pretty busy. Mr Scott away on his holidays. Tried to get shop books done up at night and had a walk last thing.

Returned to work again.

Got up late and walked round by the river side and Ford Paper Works with Joe. At Sunday School and chapel at night. A local preaching. Fine day. Had walk at night.
